About Us

Age of Aincrad is a MMOARPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Action Role Playing Game), inspired by the popular anime series Sword Art Online.

We are currently not gathering funds for personal gains. All donations are invested into the project.

We are unsatisfied by the way MMORPGs are currently created. Right now, most have almost the same code structure, only using different models, levels and graphic styles. Our goal is to overhaul this idea and create a totally new MMORPG with our own view on what an MMORPG should be. Exploration, adventure, immersion and fun. These are keywords used by almost every publisher, however they don't appear in the game themselves. Progression in MMO games has started to be defined as grinding through the whole game, then having fun at max level. We do not agree with this, a player should be able to enjoy and appreciate the time they invest in the game from start to max level. We would like to show the gaming community that a MMORPG can have different mechanics, a different game-play experience. This very idea is why we believe that indie developers like us can create this game. We have the freedom to take a different path, not one that current AAA developers take today. We are not restrained by a publisher that only wants to make money out of the game and is afraid of utilising a different approach. The size of the project can become considerably smaller while keeping the same level of immersion, fun and quality that all MMO players enjoy. That is why we dedicate our time, energy and effort into this project.
